Can Outlook's Confidential setting be used to trigger encryption?

You can use Outlook's Confidential setting to force a message to be encrypted. When this Outlook setting is enabled, the ZixGateway's "Default Encrypt & Send Policy" policy is invoked. This ensures your confidential information is properly secured.

In Outlook, enabling this option will vary depending on the version of Outlook you are using. Below are a few examples.

In Outlook 2013/2016:

  1. Compose an email.
  2. In the top menu, select File > Properties.
  3. Set the Sensitivity value to Confidential.

In Outlook 2007:

  1. Compose an email.
  2. In the top menu, select the down arrow next to Options.
  3. Set the Sensitivity value to Confidential.

In Outlook 2003:

  1. Compose an email.
  2. Select File > Properties.
  3. Set the Sensitivity value to Confidential.
Choose files or drag and drop files
