About Attachment Defense

Attachment Defense leverages the advanced power of Proofpoint Targeted Attack Protection, the industry’s most effective defense against advanced threats, stops and blocks malicious URLs. When enabled, attachments contained in inbound email are compared against Proofpoint's attachment reputation service. Known bad attachments result in messages being blocked from deliver.

Attachment Defense is available with Proofpoint's Business package and above.

Attachment Defense Sandboxing

When enabled, Attachment Defense Sandboxing will send attachments that are not known to the Attachment reputation service to be sandboxed to determine whether it is safe to deliver. During this time, emails remain queued until either a decision is provided or we exceed the maximum wait time (15 minutes). Once a decision is reached the email is either delivered or blocked.

The vast majority of messages are processed and delivered within 2 minutes.

Attachment Defense Sandboxing is available with Proofpoint's Advanced package and above.
