Proofpoint: Alert This Website Has Been Classified as Malicious

Issue

End users see the following warning alert from Microsoft's SmartScreen Defender when falling for a phishing email

Solution

To remove the warning, you will need to safelist the Phishing domains as a Trusted site in Internet Explorer and Edge.

  1. Open Internet Explorer or Edge and navigate to Internet OptionsSecurity tab.
  2. Add the phishing domains as a trusted site.
  3. Select the Trusted sites zone icon.
  4. Click the Sites button.

  1. Uncheck the box Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.
  2. Add the Phishing domain(s) you are using in your phishing campaigns.

  1. Click Close.
  2. Disable SmartScreen Defender for Trusted sites only. On the Security tab, click on the Custom level... button.

  1. Scroll down to Use Windows Defender SmartScreen or Use SmartScreen Filter (Win8) and select Disable.
