Why are Out of Office (OOO) and auto-replies from Office 365 getting stopped?
Answer: Out of Office (OOO) and auto-replies should not be routing through Proofpoint.
The reason why Out Of Office (OOO) replies do not appear in Proofpoint's outbound logs is due to the fact they are sent from a null sender. With a null sender Proofpoint is unable to link that email to any user account.
Proofpoint does not allow null sender emails to be sent for the purpose of OOO replies.
These OOO and auto-relies should have a separate outbound mail flow rule configured as mentioned below :

These OOO and auto-relies should have a separate outbound mail flow rule configured as mentioned below :
1) Create a connector (named 'O365 DNS') within O365 that uses their internal DNS for sending email.
2) Create a mail flow rule that checks for the following:
- IF Sender is External (Outside of Organization)
- AND IF Recipient is External (Outside of Organization)
- Then Use Connector - O365 DNS.
