Connect Process - 4. Configuring Recipient Validation

Configuring Recipient Validation explained

Dear Primary Contact,

This graphic illustrates the steps required to connect your infrastructure to Mimecast. If you'd like more information click the image to visit our knowledge base. Green indicates your current step, while gray indicates completed steps.

Prior to setting up journaling to start the archival of your messages, Mimecast recommends you setup a connector to your user directory. This provides Mimecast with key user and group information which will be useful within the Mimecast platform. Many directory synchronization methods also provide authentication, and at this stage of the process you should consider how your users will log in to Mimecast when they access the service.

Before we can accept your inbound mail, we need to know which email addresses we should accept for delivery. We recommend this be done via a connection to your user directory as this allows Mimecast to replicate your users and groups. At this stage of the process, you should consider how your users will log in to Mimecast when they access the service, as not all recipient validation methods can be used for authentication.

Next Steps
1. Read this page to understand more about your directory synchronization options.
2. Read this page to understand the authentication options available to your users.
3. While we recommend you utilize the options documented above for your user synchronization and authentication, optionally you can also do a manual import of your users. Our systems won't detect this, so if you utilize this method please reply to this email to let us know this is the case and we'll move you to the next stage of the Connect process.

Once our systems detect configuration of a connector in your directory structure, we'll send you the details for your next step.

Please respond to this email if you have any questions about this step.

Kind regards,

Mimecast North America, Inc.
