Unable to Access USB Devices and/or Print After VIPRE Advanced Security for Business Update
If you are using Device Control, a reboot is required after updating a VIPRE Business agent. Symptoms of not rebooting include, but are not limited to:
- Unable to print
- Unable to access USB devices
- Unexpected loss of USB functionality
During the update, a reboot prompt is issued but is often not acted on. Due to the design of Device Control, reboots are required in this instance. If you find yourself in a situation where VIPRE was recently updated and you are unable to print or access USB devices, please ensure the PC has been rebooted.
In some cases a simple reboot does not resolve this issue and endpoints will continue prompting for a reboot. If this occurs, follow these steps to resolve this issue:
-
Disable Device Control from VIPRE Business Console
- Open the VIPRE Console
- Right click on the intended policy and choose Policy Properties
- Switch to the Device Control section
- Un-check the box to Enable Device Control:
-
Click Apply and click OK
- Reboot affected endpoint
-
Enable Device Control from VIPRE Business Console
- Open the VIPRE Console
- Right click on the intended policy and choose Policy Properties
- Switch to the Device Control section
- Check the box to Enable Device Control:
-
Click Apply and click OK
- Reboot affected endpoint
