About Reports
Proofpoint Essentials provides a number of reports useful to both administrators and users. Reports cover areas such as:
- Email Flow
- Bandwidth
- Domains (yours or external ones)
- results from optional features such as Attachment Defense and URL Defense
Reports can be viewed, printed or exported as PDF or CSV.
Generating Reports
To generate a report:
- In the Threat Reporting section Reports tab, click on the category you wish to have a report from (i.e. Traffic, Bandwidth, Domains, etc)
- Click on the name of a report in the list on the left. The report is generated using default parameters (including the report style). To see details, hover the mouse pointer over a value on the graph.
- Optionally, adjust the report’s parameters by choosing from the options at the top of the page.
- To export the report/report data, click the cog wheel icon (, in the top right corner of the page) and select Export to PDF or Export to CSV: you are prompted to choose or open the resulting file.

Or to print the report: click the cog wheel icon (, in the top right corner of the page) and choose Print.
To make the report (including selected parameters) a favorite, click the cog wheel icon (, in the top right corner of the page) and select Save as Favorite. You are prompted to provide a name for the favorite: the report will appear on the left panel in the Favourites List seciton for easier generation in the future.
Scheduling Reports
To schedule a report:
- Only favorite reports can be scheduled. If necessary, generate a report and mark it as a favorite as described above.
- On the Threat Reporting area, click Schedule List.
- Click Add a Report Schedule.
- Enter a Description for the scheduled report.
- Select the Frequency (every x months, every week on a specific weekday) at which the report should be scheduled.
- Enter the email address to which the report should be sent (Sent to).
- From the Choose a Report list, choose the report to be produced on a schedule (list includes all reports marked as favorites).
- Click Save.
