Using Office 365 - Outbound configuration

To send outbound email from Office 365 via the outbound relay:

**NOTE you do not need to add Office 365 IP's to our Portal. this is handled back end.

 

  1. Log in to the Office 365 Exchange Admin Center (EAC)

  2. Select the Admin > Exchange menu

  3. Select the Mail Flow > Connectors menu and Create a new Connector

  4. Set the mail flow scenario:
    From:  'Office 365' from the drop down list
    To:  'Partner Organisation' from drop down list
  5. Click the Next button

  6. Enter a name and description for the connector, you can also tick the box to make the connector active straight away after creation. 

  7. Click the Next button

  8. Select the Only when email messages are sent to these domains option from the radio buttons.
    1. Click the plus icon + to add domains that should use this connector
    2. Enter a value of * - this is a wildcard that will route all outbound emails through VIPRE Email Security

  1. Click the Next button

  2. Select the Route email through these smart hosts option from the radio buttons. 
    1. Click the plus icon + to add your smart hosts one at a time.
      Note: Your smart host details can be found on the Getting Started page of the VIPRE Email Security portal or find your from the list of All Hosts
    2. Click the Save button

  3. Once you have added all your smart hosts click the Next button

  4. Tick the box for Always use Transport Layer Security (TLS) to Secure the Connection (recommended)
  5. Select Issued by a trusted certificate authority (CA)
  6. Click the Next button

  7. Add an email address of a recipient for a domain external to your organisation

  8. Click the Validate button
    Note: If you did not choose to turn the connector on in Step 6, validation of the connector will fail. If your validation results show that the connection was successful, but the email failed to send because "The domain of the recipient is not configured as part of connector" - this may be due to the connector being disabled. Try enabling the connector and re-attempting the validation. 

  9. Once Office 365 has been successfully validated, click the Save button
