When using Office365 with Email Security - Archiving there are 2 parts to the configuration setting up a separate send connector, and configuring the journaling.
Creating a new Send Connector:
This is needed to make sure that archived mail doesn't go back through the filter and rick being stopped or double archived.
- Log in to the Office 365 Exchange Admin Center (EAC)
- Select the Admin > Exchange menu
- Select the Mail Flow > Connectors menu and Create a new Connector
- Set the mail flow scenario:
From: 'Office 365' from the drop down list
To: 'Partner Organisation' from drop down list
- Click the Next button
- Enter a name and description for the connector, you can also tick the box to make the connector active straight away after creation.
- Click the Next button
- Select the Only when email messages are sent to these domains option from the radio buttons.
- Click the plus icon + to add domains that should use this connector
- Enter the value archive.mailanyone.net
- Click the Next button
- Select Use the MX record associated with the partner's domain from the radio buttons
- Click Next
- Tick the box for Always use Transport Layer Security (TLS) to Secure the Connection (recommended)
- Select Issued by a trusted certificate authority (CA)
- Click the Next button
- Add an email address of the Journaling mailbox that is provided in the VIPRE admin portal (this will be a long string followed by @archive.mailanyone.net)
- Click the Validate button
Note: Validation may fail in some scenarios, however you may still receive the email to the address you specified, this is an issue with Office365 and does not cause issues with use.
Setting up the Journaling:
Once the connector is configured we need to start sending internal mail to the archive (Email Security - Archiving will automatically create copies of external mail as it passes through our systems).
- Log in to the Office 365 Exchange Admin Center (EAC)
- Select the Admin > Exchange menu
- Select Compliance Management > Journal Rules
- Enter the email address of your journal contact in the *Send journal reports to field.
- Select the + to add a new rule
- In the *Send journal reports to enter your archive address you have got from Service Settings > Email Security - Archiving section of your portal. (this will be a long string followed by @archive.mailanyone.net)
- Give the rule a Name
- Select [Apply to all messages] for the option *If the message is sent to or received from...
- Select Internal messages only on the *Journal the following messages...
- Click Save
- Make sure the rule is enabled by looking at the tick box
- This will now start archiving all internal mail
